Anyone else worried that DLP will follow the lead of WDW?
Anyone else concerned that DLP will follow the lead of WDW and the announcements made yesterday
No dining plan until the end of the year would be a massive pain and if it was no parades/fireworks or Xmas season in November when we go we would have to cancel it again ( originally going in June ) Fingers crossed the situation here is a bit better in the next few months |

The problem at DLP is most of the restaurants are setup as buffets, including the breakfasts. So will they change these to table service with reduced capacity or just not open them. Presumably character meals may not be in operation, so anyone with a premium meal plan will miss out.
Whilst I quite like some of the counter service options, there are always problems with the speed of service and places being closed. I also wish they had counter service options at the hotels as in Florida. I know they have some items at the bars but these are very expensive and a limited choice. |

I hope not as weve got full board premium for next year. There are lot less places to eat in DLP compared to Florida so we will be a bit stuck. They good change to table service or have CMs serve the buffet, this will be good for reducing food waste as well while they are recouperating.

I hope they don’t cancel all the meals as well, because I have just moved our summer 2020 holiday to summer 2021 and chose the DLH with the free full board.
Do you think we could see DLP try something like the family style dining, where the food is bought to the table to share out? This could also help as the amount of dishes would be reduced, so less strain on the kitchens, which may have reduced staff levels. |

That’s quite interesting. We were supposed to go mid October and I wanted to book table reservations at 6 months out but they had already pulled the reservation system. Maybe they will follow up with pulling the dining plans like WDW.
We’ve cancelled now anyway and am waiting for deposit back. Just thought with all the potential restrictions it wouldn’t be the trip I was hoping for. |

We are booked for New Year. If they do cancel the free dining, it won’t be such an attractive proposition (obviously) and we would probably want to move to Davy Crockett as although it’s further out, we could at least take some food with us, as I’m not sure how all the guests will fit in to limited socially distanced restaurants and we will all need to eat. I’m not sure where it would be possible to go to get food otherwise. I’d rather not be self catering, maybe we would just change to next year.

I had just started to think about a consolation DLP trip later in the year, after cancelling two WDW trips. I won’t if they cancel the dining plans though or even worse, close the restaurants.

I'm hoping that part of the logic behind Disneyworld doing this is to encourage most guests to dine offsite. This would be fine for many as they could cancel their hotel and re-book a villa and there are plenty of offsite places to eat. Disneyland however is very much a self-contained bubble so even if they did cancel the meal plans people would still have to eat onsite as there is nowhere else to go.
I booked a package direct with Disneyland a few days ago for mid November this year which includes flights. The whole thing is moveable without a fee but I really hope we can go. I did this because I was worried they would put a stop on new hotel / ticket bookings for the rest of the year similar to Disneyworld. |
