I think they will have a tough job on their hands with compliance but in my opinion masks will be around in some form until at least the end of this year, though will perhaps change to just being encouraged.
Since it was something that was agreed with the CM's union I would imagine they would need their approval to relax the rules, or it could mean the parks close again.

I think we might see a shift in quite short order once Disney see how hard it is to enforce. I would expect that soon it will only be a requirement inside. I think that would be much more palatable for people so they wouldn’t have to wear them in the heat.

Disney's employees' union is demanding the masks. In fact, they demanded the age be changed from 3 to 2. (My cousin works in Frontierland.)
If the masks can't be enforced (in other words, if guests won't comply), the employees will walk and the park will close.
Wearing a mask around Disney World seems horrible to me. But if people are determined to go, they need to endure the unpalatable. At least until the health warnings are reduced.

There are 6 types of human coronaviruses, vaccines have been successfully created for NONE.

If we are waiting for a vaccine heaven help us.

Yep. Agree. The infection rate has to decrease steadily over a period of time with no significant spikes. That’s what’s going to change the mask situation.

Yes, I had heard this. However, negotiations with the unions, I assume, would still be possible in the future and goalposts can change. I totally agree that guests *should* be willing to stick to the rules if we go but anecdotally, it seems they are already struggling with people breaking the rules. What the unions would like to happen vs what happens in practice may be two different things. This is, of course, speculation. There’s a possibility that the unions will be steadfast in the face of mask related difficulties but if the alternative is their union members being out of work we may see a change in the position.

Wow. So the employees would have their jobs and their health held hostage over people not wearing masks? No way. That’s putting employee lives at risk. The union would sue.

I’m not sure you’re picking up the tone of my posts correctly here. I’m not saying in any way that I think these things are right or that they should happen. I personally am quite happy to wear a mask if that’s what’s required. I also dont think that employees should be held to ransom. However, let’s be realistic. Disney is a commercial enterprise. If it’s impossible for them to enforce people wearing masks or if it’s hurting business there will have to be renegotiations. All sorts of elements will come into play. And one of those, whether anyone likes it or not, is that if the parks can’t stay open then people will lose their jobs. All I’m saying is that I could see a reasonable compromise being masks inside. The OP asked for opinions, that is mine.

Just in case face masks are going to be a long term thing especially when on public transport here or in the parks in Florida, I have bought Christmas fabric and Harry Potter fabric (for Universal visits) just need to get some Disney fabric. If i have to wear them might as well be themed
