Always a possibility you might get a bump from PE to UC with there being a few more UC seats on the 200 and many more on the 300!

Perhaps this explains something, knowledgeable people might be able to confirm..
Our outbound is A330-300, always was, as we only booked it a little while ago when a BA flight got cancelled. Our return is currently 747, but I noticed you cannot buy that flight at all anymore. If you wanted to fly back to MCR on 31/8 its indirect only. So I assume that's in anticipation of the smaller plane, and I hope they are able to honour all the current booked seats...

My return flight from MCO-MAN for 30th October was changed a couple of weeks ago to the A330.
My family of 3 (including 7 year old) have been allocated seats split right across the aircraft nowhere near each other. |

Mine hasn't changed yet either, 20/9 - 8/10 from Glasgow on the 747.

The Virgin 747s were supposed to be retired and replaced next year, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the downturn in demand the planes have been taken out of service and are being scrapped with immediate effect. It isnt just Virgin who were scrapping the 747s, its pretty much every company that owns 747s and other four engines airplanes.

Yes, Virgin have now retired the 747s.
Last time I looked my booking still showed the flight was a 747 but clearly they haven't got round to updating it yet. I'm supposedly flying in late August.

Trying for More Ears

I've just done a dummy booking on Virgin Atlantic website for flights MAN to MCO 12th August 2 weeks and apart from the ridiculously expensive amount of £9335 it has let me select my seats and is still showing the plane as being the 747-400
Did another search in November and is showing A330-300.

Excited about Disney

We're booked UC return 12th-26th August (also still showing 747). I just dummy booked and it said UC "not offered" on the return leg, other cabins said "sold out" so goodness knows what that means? I really can't understand why any of the seats are still for sale if they're going to have to make availability for Gatwick pax on it? Not saying they would want to but if in the very small chance we go surely these passengers should have priority over new bookings?

We are the same. When I got through to Virgin I was told that they still logistically going to use the 747. My head is spinning with all of this.
