Any of the main beach areas will be good for a day trip.
Daytona is decent beach you can have a good day there, but the sea can be much stronger than you will find on the gulf coast. Any of the places you mentioned will be fine, Clearwater may be another you could add to you list with a slightly easier travel time. |

We had a great day at Daytona We drove onto the beach and set up camp. Crikey it was hot (we went in May) but there was a great breeze to cool us off a bit. Yes, the sea was quite rough (maybe because of the wind) but it didn't stop my DH and DS. At one point my DH panicked as whilst they were in the water, near the shallows, he saw some fins Thinking Jaws he started to drag DS out the water but it turned out to be dolphins swimming past. It was lovely to watch (once the panic was over! )

Depends what you expect from a beach day. Do you want just sea and sand or do you want boat rides, restaurants etc. If it's just sea and sand I would recommend Jetty Park (just up from Cocoa Beach) as it's only about an hour away, parking is included ($10 for the day), nice beach, changing rooms, showers, toilets etc. There is a little shop but nothing fancy like Daytona or Clearwater. I haven't been to Anna Maria Island yet so can't compare.
