Launch from Cape Canaveral
Hi all
Have been checking the launch schedules from Cape Canaveral and there's one going up while we're over in Florida. Has anyone been to see a launch before? and would you say it's worth it? I know it won't be as spectacular as a shuttle launch, but still thought seeing a rocket in flight would be very cool. Cheers Nick |

We did attempt it once but made the mistake of trying to get there early morning. After 2 hours and 3 miles of nose to tail traffic jam, be got off at the first exit and wnt shopping instead. We said afterwards that we should have booked a hotel for the night before and then driven back after the launch traffic had disappeared.

Excited about Disney

When we got married in Orlando in 2002 we took a cruise from Port Canavarel and as the ship left the port one of the last shuttle launches took place. We watched the launch from the deck and it left quite an impression on me. Not sure I'd have made the trip specially to see it though.

Hi we went to Jetty Park 3 years ago to watch Juno go up. The park is clearly sign posted and was easy to find and get parked in. We had a great view of the rocket going off and then went to the beach afterwards. Traffic wasn"t a problem , but we may have just been lucky so I would make sure you give yourself plenty of time. It was the highlight of all the things we have ever done in Florida for DH. If there was another one going up when we are there we would go again

Since the shuttles have stopped flying no one really bothers anymore. Jetty Park is really good and there arent crowds.

Agreed. No problems with traffic anymore!
If you are interested then go. There's nothing else like it. Check the web as late as possible before traveling - conditions need to be perfect for a launch. They get scrubbed all the time. |

Great info all - thanks!
I really like the idea, so think i'll give it a go. Got nothing to lose right? Can always make it a beach day if nothing else |
