SF-Vegas and back advice please

Hi all!
We are flying in and out of Oakland in August. We want to have 4 days in San Francisco - we have been there before but want to go back. We also want to go to Las Veges but that is all we have. We have 18 nights and are looking for somewhere to stop off between SF and Vegas, we've also been to Yosemite before which was fantastic but would like to go somewhere else another national park maybe ? Or any other suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance !
Jane

we did SF then down Pacific highway to La ten across to vegas

lots of places to stop on PCH , or you could go via Sequoia National Park , death valley to Vegas

or Palm springs via Joshua tree national park to Vegas , lots of options .

how about getting an map of California & Nevada and then you can see the routes and what is along them , go ours from ebay for £5 , mainly incase sat nav didn't work but it is also good for telling you wat you can see

Hi again first 2 hour down the coast to Monterey easy, would suggest you stop there a couple of days, aquarium ,whale watching from moss landing sanctuary cruises, 17 mile drive and some time in Carmel. Maybe then have a slow day driving to Santa Barbara stopping to see elephant seals at San Simeon or hurst castle, you could take another stop in between. Once you leave Santa Barbara 2 hours to LA and the decision to stay or drive further south maybe even down to San Diego lajolla which is great place
