When do you pick up your turkey ?
Probably a dumb question but when would you expect to pick up your turkey ?
We buy ours from the milk lady, they are free range from her own farm. They are lovely and worth the extra cost. Usually she drops it off on the evening of the 23rd. Tonight she told husband she would drop it off on Sunday afternoon. That is 3 days before Christmas Day. Does that sound acceptable ? I only have a smallish fridge and usually keep it in the garage (which is probably as cold as the fridge) until I cook it. |

In a cool box covered with ice and brought in on chrisrptmas eve To sit on the kitchen surface or kitchen has no heat you'd roast if it did when cooking So,it's at room temp for cooking around 1pm |

They will all be oven ready by now anyway, won’t be any less fresh it’s just the storage.
As you said you usually keep it in the garage, that’s the issue, we have some unseasonably warm weather ahead and I suspect they can’t keep them all chilled. The milk chillers will need to be on so they can’t even use the dairy’s chillers as they will be full of milk and cream. Best make some room in the fridge Edited at 12:54 AM. |
