It looks like from 01/01/17 the DDP is changing for the better.

It now looks like if your on the full dining plan, you get the following:-

1 x Full Service Meal Per Day
1 x Quick Service Meal Per day
2 x Snack Credits Per Day

In addition, you can now exchange 3 x Snack Credits for a counter service quick service meal.

If I am also reading correctly, you can now swap your dessert for a starter at full service meals (soup)

I was aware of the changes to the snacks and the fact that you would no longer have a dessert on the QS credits.

However I didn't know that you could swap the dessert for an appetiser on the TS meals, is it only soup it applies to though?

Most of the changes were made this year (swapping QS desserts and drinks for snacks, swapping 1 QS credit for 3 snacks and dessert substitutions at TS meals). The only change for next year is that quick service meals will no longer come with a dessert, hence the extra snack.

It's unclear yet whether you'll still be able to swap a QS credit for 3 snacks or whether it will be reduced to 2 with the loss of the dessert.

Dessert substitutions at TS meals are subject to availability so you need to check with each restaurant. I believe they include soup, simple salad or fruit plate and you can't just choose any side.
