What would you pay for indirect & direct flights in summer school hols?
Just curious to understand what Dibbers feel is appropriate to pay for indirect & direct flights in summer school hols?
Please base your prices on a single adult fare in summer school holidays. |

Most years we have paid £900 per person but that's because we're only interested in direct with BA or Virgin. This year, we've managed to snag £550 per person flights! The difference this year is that we fly into MCO but out of Miami - a much cheaper way of doing things if you want to secure cheaper flights.

If you trawl through the 'glitch' thread, you will see what people are happy to pay. It varies greatly!
We have paid £620 each (2 adults, 2 teens); out to Miami via Madrid with Iberia, home direct to LHR with BA. That includes 28 days car hire (standard SUV) and luggage for 4 people Edited at 11:40 AM. |

We paid just over £1000 for direct Thomas Cook flights with premium on the return leg in 2016. Crazy money as there was 4 of us.
This year I’ve just booked a BA flydrive for £2700 London to Miami via Philadelphia and direct Miami to London on the return leg. The £2700 was for 2a 2ch and a Ford Mustang for 23 days. (To get the mustang separately it’s about £1000. So that makes the flights about £1700 so about £425 each indirect to Miami. (I know it’s not exactly right as if I’d have booked the car and flights separately they’d have been dearer). I loved our Thomas Cook flight but £1000 is a lot more money than £425 especially when you multiply it by 4! |

£500 is my goal and this year we paid £300.
But there is a caveat. We fly indirect. And for £300 we were hand luggage only. |

We only book fly drives and fly direct - but direct to us is getting on one plane to an airport in Florida and driving the other end. So we often fly into one Florida airport and out of another. This year into Tampa and out of Miami, next year into Orlando and out of Miami, as long as we don’t have to change planes. We won’t pay anymore than £750pp which includes car hire.

You are a man (and family) after my own heart. My signature has so many multi centres because I objected to being ripped off. Directs from London to Orlando are some of the most expensive flights you can buy into the USA including the West Coast. It is because of this blatant profiteering that I first looked at indirects .. then indirects into cities where I wanted a looksee, then multi centre vacations, then triple or even quadruple centre vacations with Orlando no longer playing such a major part... and now vacations where Orlando plays no part at all. Our last vacation was July into August over 3 weeks. Like you, we went hand luggage, but no in flight meals either (as they are rubbish in coach and we preferred £3.99 WH Smith meal deals). We did.. LGW- Boston (Flight). Boston to NY Penn (train) LaGuardia to Dayton OH (Flight) Cincinatti to MCO (Flight) Miami to LGW (Flight). All flights were direct. Total cost for all of that transport was £720pp. I couldn’t have got a direct from London to Orlando at that price. Last Easter was LHR to SFO and then LAX to LHR during the Easter hols .. £575pp direct. At 1.4 to the pound Year before at Easter LHR to Pensacola via ATL, then Daytona Beach to LHR via ATL... £425 pp at 1.25 to the pound Next year at Easter it is LHR to SFO and then Vancouver to LHR, both direct.. £385pp at 1.22 to the pound. We are being taken for mugs.
