How likely is it that I will secure points for ...
9 nights over Christmas - approx 21-30 December? We are considering another Christmas trip instead of two weeks in summer come 2021 but not sure how easy it would be with points during such a busy time! Projecting for next year as an estimate it’s approx 200 points for either of the properties at wilderness lodge, but we wouldn’t be too picky, we would be happy with BLT, SSR, BWV. We aren’t just stuck to one particular place.. so would this make it easier?

Your issue is not really whether you can secure the points over the period, you need to secure the booking over the period with someone who can book either greater than 11 months out, or 7 or less when any points will do.
Copper Creek has low availability and is impossible to get much outside the 11 month point at Christmas. Even 1 beds here will book up before 7 months, so you will definitely need an owner to book there at Christmas. Wilderness Lodge Boulder Ridge can be booked at 7 months in a 1 bed at Christmas, but studios will be likely gone. So if you want a studio, again you will likely need an owner. You could request DVC points on here, or as soon as you see an owner at WL, request the points. You could try David’s etc, I would think about putting your name down ASAP. No one knows if those points will be available. Recently David’s appears to have had some difficultly in filling some requests. Your best chance would be to go for a 1 bed at Boulder Ridge when you would have a much larger pool of owners likely able to book at 7 months out, but you would also need a motivated owner who could make the booking as the window opens. Personally I would think about being flexible with the resort, then you will get something. I see you are thinking about this anyway. You will be very likely to score a studio at SSR or OKW. 1 beds, I am going similar dates , myself this year, and Beach Club and Boardwalk were no problem this year at 7 months. BLT studios will be as difficult to get as a Copper Creek, you will need an owner closer to 11 months. I got a 1 bed at 7 but that was a bit of luck I believe this year.

Wow! Thank you YorkshireT... you have been a massive help! I figured being flexible with resorts would be handy, we aren’t set on DVC yet but we are thinking it would help with costs over Christmas as the standard rates are sky high. Thank you again... I really appreciate your help 🙂

My DVC is saving me a fortune at Xmas- I think the 1 beds (no free DDP offered, cash only) at the likes of Beach Club are over $1000 a night. They cost me around $200 in dues cost- this is where DVC really pays off.
