Sanaa - cheap Indian or fab restaurant?
Aside from the bread service, has anyone been to Sanaa recently? It seems to have mixed reviews, aside from the bread service. Cant work out if it is going to be disappointment or go beyond my high expectations. Im going with two teens if that makes a difference and we usually love. good curry!

I would say go with the attitude that it's not cheap and it's not Indian. They have curry-esque dishes but I wouldn't compare it to the Indian food here. It's a mix of African and Indian I think.
I enjoyed it as something different to the usual. |

As above I wouldn't compare to going for an Indian meal here but we enjoyed it, it was a couple of years ago though. I had the lamb shank with tandoori vegetables and it was very good.

I don't see why it has to be either.
A glance at the menu confirms it. Not sure what "good curry" means to you , authentic , or the English version of curry ( there's a reason why you never see Indians eating in a British curry house ) but I suspect you'd be disappointed either way with Sanaa , it's not really like a British version of a curry house . I think you might like it but maybe not if you are expecting a British curry experience as the dishes won't be like home . Good but different , if you have really high and fixed expectations it might be a disappointment (I think that's why it has mixed reviews ,people had different expectations rather than it's disappointing in the food) If you go expecting different rather than curry house I think you'd probably like it though. |

We went in May for the first time and booked another reservation for the next week before we'd even finished our meal! Loved it. We had great service and the food was really good, my favourite of our holiday. I had the meat trio and DH had curry. The bread service was delicious too.
It's not like an Indian here, I'd say more African setting/food with an Indian influence. |

We went last week and was, hands down, the best meal of the fortnight. Really enjoyed it.

As has seen said, it's hardly an Indian in the sense that we know them over here.
I would also never call it 'cheap'. It is, after all, a signature restaurant. I don't even like the look of the bread service, if the truth be told. I wouldn't eat the onion bread, and probably only 1 or possibly 2 of the dips, so definitely overrated in my mind - and definitely not covered under the dining plan! Yeah, a lot of people love it; fine. I have no problem with that. It just leaves me cold.

If you want a good Indian British curry, avoid Sanna you will hate it.
We love it and normally go every trip. We embrace the theme and what they are trying to achieve - authenticity. Disney332

Nail on the head. It's nothing like an Indian or we wouldn't set foot in there!
The spice is very subtle and I find the food to be very good. Lets be honest it's not Jiko's but it is very nice. As mentioned the bread service is excellent. I gave the choices of all the restaurants to my Daughter who is coming with us next trip and she asked for Sanaa as she liked the menu - and she is fussy!
