Making scones
Don't laugh! I'm making scones for the first time ever. About 10 mins left! .. I make pankackes etc just never tried scones..

Good old Bero recipe:
225g self raising flour pinch salt 50g marg 25g caster sugar 50g currants or similar medium egg and milk to make 1/4 pint Heat oven 220 degree and grease baking tray mix flour salt rub in marg, stir in sugar and fruit add egg mix leaving little for brushing the top knead lightly on floured surface and cut into 6.5cm rounds brush top with leftover milk/egg bake 10 mins

I like the Paul Hollywood receipe
Ingredients 1.500g/1lb 1oz strong white flour, plus a little extra for rolling out. 2.80g/3oz softened butter, plus a little extra to grease the baking tray. 3.80g/3oz caster sugar. 4.2 free-range eggs. 5.5 tsp baking powder. 6.250ml/8˝fl oz milk. 7.1 free-range egg, beaten with a little salt (for glazing

I love the ones served in Red Lobster, they call them biscuits but to us they are cheese scones, I bought 4 packet mixes of Red Lobster biscuits from Walmart, they are simply the best.

That’s the recipe I use and the only one that has ever worked and believe me I have tried lots!

I use this recipe - if I can’t be bothered making sour milk, I just use buttermilk.

Flat ! None of the recipes I saw mentioned eggs.. did 2 lots with different recipes .first lot rose a bit. 2nd lot didn't rise much( put some baking soda in it). Tasted ok though.. I'll try the recipes mentioned tomorrow and will let you all know how " the great British scone off " is coming along...oh and their not as soft inside as most scones are.. appreciate any more tips!

Don't handle the mixture much. Bring it together pat it into a shape and cut your scones out. The more you handle or flatten it the less they will rise.
