What are you eating in this heat?

I’m struggling to come up with ideas!

Currently our downstairs thermostat is showing 29.4 degrees.

We have a kitchen-diner with south facing windows too so I’m trying to avoid having the oven on/ having food that I can cook in the afternoon and eat cold or trying to find non messy food so that we can eat in the living room (not easy - DH likes baked beans with every meal and he’s also the messiest eater I’ve ever met)

We’re also both quite fussy!

What’s everybody else eating?

We have had barbecue now every night for the last 2 weeks. Getting a bit sick of it now but as son is in charge of the barbecue and I haven’t made a meal in a fortnight I will put up with it for as long as possible !

Roast chicken dinner today 😳 cos I was working over weekend but whilst that's been cooking in the oven I've been "cooking" and relaxing in the garden so I'm not too hot... Off to work in a mo for the air con... The one advantage of that place... For the last week we've had mainly salads and once food shop comes we will be having mostly salads this week too 😉😉

Salad sounds good... I read on bbc news website there might be a lettuce shortage soon cos shops are selling it so fast in the heat... Watch out for prices going up... It will be the tip of the iceberg 😉😉😉... See what I did there 😂😂😂

We aren't mad keen on bbqs so don't have that often.
Im doing a lot of variations on salads.
Simple pasta eg with spinach pesto.
Wraps with various fillings.
Prawns tonight, prob in a chilli sauce.
We find we aren't as hungry in the heat so easy meals satisfy

Excellent pun. I bet TOCPE couldn't improve on it.

We live in a tiny flat on the second floor. No garden. It is a sauna all summer.

We like to buy a selection of cold meats and cheeses, crackers and fruit.

Or stir fry, filled pasta with sauce - anything that can be cooked on a hob in 10 minutes or less
