Eurostar May Half Term

Has anyone managed to get the cheapest advertised Eurostar dates for May half term? For the direct train to Disney, I’m not interested in changing.

We live in the north west so I’ve never done the Eurostar before but flight prices are hefty currently, and that’s before the government makes any changes to quarantine requirements…

Advertised fares are ‘from £76 return’, but how likely am I to actually get that fare? According to Eurostar fares should be out in about a month.

Assuming they are even for sale on those dates - it involves dancing naked round a bonfire at midnight and sacrificing a ferret…

Not really. But it is best to phone a couple of days before the dates open. Often the cheap fares sell out before they even show on the website.

There is only one direct train a day, and it doesn’t run every day.

I would seriously consider changing at Lille, it’s a doddle, much cheaper and you get there earlier.

I will have a two year old and a six year old with me, I don’t really want to be having to get on and off trains with a pram and suitcases any more than is absolutely necessary.

Just trying to decide whether it’s worth hanging on to see what Eurostar comes out at, or if I should just bite the bullet and pay for flights.

It's really hard to get the cheapest prices. Top tip is to keep ringing them as they are available by phone up to a couple of weeks before they come online. I've always got lower prices by phone (though they charge a cheeky extra £10 phone booking fee).

Otherwise book as soon as they are available. Prices only ever go up, never down. For school holidays you would be really lucky to get £76 return. £120/adult is probably the average.

I've booked Easter at £101/adult which I was pleased with.

Personally I find once you've added car parking/bags/transfer etc both flights and Eurostar come out similar. Obviously it depends where you are in the country though.

I've done all ways of getting to Disney and I'm always most relaxed on Direct Eurostar, even though it does cut into park hours on the first day which is not ideal

Thank you, the flight times on our first day wouldn’t arrive til 4pm anyway so I’ve discounted that day already 🙈 £120 per adult, plus a return ticket to/from London still works out cheaper than the flights currently!

I would say try for the direct, and if no good then the indirect comes out later.

We didn’t even have to move platforms but it does vary. Still easier than flights though.

I'm looking forward to when my kids are a bit older and we can take advantage of the indirect. I like that it looks fairly simple to do at Lille and can get you to the park nice and early.

Buggies, young children and suitcases cause a lot of transfer stress. I'm hoping older children and suitcases not so much?

Older kids can pull their own suitcases too!
