August 7 days in New York- The 3 of us Day 3
So day 3 was the South of Manhattan. Statue of Liberty and 9/11.
Up and out for 8.30 as I had booked SOL for 10 am. Booked Sol with Pedestal separately rather than using the City pass. I had downloaded the Citymapper App which told me to go to Grand Central for a direct subway to Battery Park. It was about a 10 minute walk, purchased a metro card and put $20 on. Got down to Battery Park and headed into Starbucks for granola yoghurt and coffee for breakfast. Straight through lines and security and on a boat in no time. We did SOL and then onto Ellis Island. Should have bought crown tickets for the teens really but I only got pedestal because I have arthritis in my joints so couldn't have done the stairs. After a good few hours we went back to Battery Park and headed for 9/11 museum and memorial where we spent a sombre few hours Had a wander around the area, went into the stunning Westfield Mall and then got the Subway to Grenwich village. Wandered around the shops and park, my daughter wanted to go to "Do" the cookie dough place but the queue was an hours wait so we headed off to Dairy Queen instead for ice cream. Found a small independent coffee shop so sat outside with drinks people watching for a while before getting the subway back up to the hotel. Food tonight, drum roll please, Chipotle, which I have to say was really nice. Had Burritos 🌯 Hotel for 10 worn out again 😴😴

A busy day! We didn't do the 9/11 Memorial Museum as DD was 12 and is a little sensitive. One day I will though.
We love Chipotle- we ate there 3 or 4 times on our recent San Diego trip! What's mot to like?

Oh Ive missed the start of your report will go and find it now! After all the info I can get before we head over in July with 15 year old daughter... what did you think of the mall looks like it may contain ‘high end’ shops which I probably want to avoid with my daughter😂 i am looking at crown tickets for SOL my dates are now on sale was thinking about booking 9am on first morning as we will be awake early... if we leave hotel at 8am would that leave enough time... we’re staying in Times Square area?
Looking forward to reading more thanks for taking the time 😀😀

The 9/11 museum was thought provoking, as the teens where babies and toddlers I wasn't sure wether they would really understand but they both did.

Another tiring day, we certainly slept well in NY after all the walking each day 😂 We visited the pools etc but didn’t go into the Museum, found it very sad and upsetting so couldn’t face the Museum itself. We also didn’t visit SoL. We used the free Staten Island ferry to see it and take photos but would visit on a future trip

Ellis Island was one of our favourite places from our 2019 trip. We did the hard hat tour of the old hospital building too.
