O Canada 🇨🇦- where to begin ?

Orlando planning is easy compared to Canada!
Looking to arrange 14 day trip , 4 adults , western Canada - Vancouver area .
Rocky Mountaineer, Kamloops, Jasper, Banff etc and Vancouver island area.

For those that have done similar trips did you book independently or use a Travel Agent?

How do silver and gold service compare on Rocky Mountaineer?

I’ve had a quote locally but it looks high to me. I’ve asked Charter Travel too for a quote with their Canadian Sail & Train trip. (2 trains on that one)

What’s the best way to put this Canadian jigsaw together?

TIA

Can’t advise on the Rocky Mountaineer but did the rest last year and booked all independently.

Flights with Air transit, car through Canadian affair and hotels, activities, ferry’s etc... all separate, all worked fine with no issues. I’d be looking at hotels in Banff and Jasper now as these do get booked up early in the summer with a short season, we booked ours about a year in advance.

I did a trip report (link in signature) more than happy to answer any questions. Amazing and stunning place, we loved it

Take a look at Canadian Sky, Canadian Affair and Trailfinders, and take some inspiration. Compare DIY and a package, and see where you go from there. Happy planning, Canada is such an amazing place!

We have always done Canada independently!

We loved Vancouver island - we spent 6 nights there and could have spent longer! We have only done the Rockies as a skiing destination - such beautiful scenery.

Happy planning.

I have been to Vancouver/Vancouver island before but look forward to exploring the other places too.
Reminded me of home when I saw Captain Cook in Victoria!

We planned Canada independently, but read a lot of trip reports on here for ideas. I also asked a lot of questions!

Here was my haul of travel books, which I’m now lending to a friend to use to plan their road trip.

I might drop the train element of the trip and work some driveable segments into the plan. The choices are huge though. It’s deciding what to cram into 2 weeks!

I’ve responded on your other thread - I can’t wait to read your reports!
Seriously considering arrival at Calgary now and then Vancouver via Vancouver island after the jasper and Kamloops sections.

The 2020 Canada 🇨🇦 road trip is shaping up.
We have ditched the train trips and it’s purely a road trip (mostly);
2 nights in Vancouver
2 nights in Victoria
2 nights in Whistler
1 night Kamloops
2 nights in jasper
1 night lake Louise
1 night in Revelstoke
1 night in kamloops
2 nights in Vancouver
I have to work our distances but that’s the basic trip.
Anyone done a similar trip?
