Love a prawn cocktail. Shredded iceberg lettuce and Marie Rose sauce. Daughter has asked for it as a starter for Christmas dinner.

We've gone through many iterations of Xmas Morning starters, all the 'posh' stuff and now have decided the good old 70's prawn cocktail is the best of all of them.

Enjoy. I like a twist of smoked paprika on the top of mine.

5 years ago today we boarded the Disney Magic for a 4 day Xmas Cruise.

One of the best moments of the whole cruise was sitting on Xmas Day afternoon on the rear deck with my daughter. We had a massive plate of 'shrimp' and a boat load of sauces to make a prawn cocktail.

Priceless memory.

We are another family who have prawn cocktail for Christmas dinner starters. It’s my sons favourite starter, I prefer melon.

Food of the gods, but for nice sauce try a bit of lemon juice and some Worcestershire sauce and a bit of black pepper. It just finishes it off.

The only mocking should be directed at the fact you have used salad cream. But each to their own.
Love a prawn cocktail and that is what we are having tomorrow, jumbo tiger prawns, lettuce and sauce made with ketchup and mayonnaise.

Must admit before today I'd never heard of making Marie Rose sauce with salad cream, doesn't sound great but I suppose don't knock what you haven't tried, incidentally some interesting recipe variations on this thread, horseradish is really from the American version of this sauce which is much spicier, darker and less creamy than the British version. I see quite a few add brandy which sounds interesting, I was always taught to add a splash of sherry for the alcohol
