Did they all turn up together 35 mins late?

Bit suspicious and sounds maybe pre planned if they did.

If they were all (as in presumably several couples travelling seperately) 35 minutes late, are you sure there wasn't some confusion over the time (which no one wanted to point out as you were already upset). Why were they all "doing their wardrobes" .

Ultimately though what is done, is done. Annoying but as a one off not worth losing friendships over. Rant to us and then let it go.

As this was a work/school night dinner party maybe this contributed too.
One is returning to USA. his work here is over. it was for him we started to do this. Like a goodbye memory.
The others are either on the sick or make thier own hours.
They were the ones that picked Thursday as it was easiest day for them. I rush like mad to get home from work and get to thiers on time, and I do.
I need to let it go. It's not like me to get so worked up about things lol

I agree totally with you..I would never lose friendships over it. BUT I needed to rant!
Thanks for listening and understanding 😀

My wedding guests were! I (bride) turned up on time (I hate being late) & the majority of the guests were still in the pub! Even my mother! Lol.
Luckily the pub is located at the church gates so someone spotted my car & then, they all had to dash/run into the church. (Serves them right ).

I was annoyed at the time but I’ve got over it now - 40 years later...

OP - Only you can decide if their friendship is worth it?

I totally sympathise- you had put so much time effort and money into what should have been a lovely evening and their rudeness and selfishness spoilt it. I would have been really annoyed as well. Learn from this and don’t invite them again!

Has this been answered as it's the first thing that struck me.

A group of independent people all late by the exactly same degree as one another? Sounds fishy.

Were they all in the same car? Sounds like maybe they were getting dressed together/fannying around and didn't care about being late.

Late people are my bugbear but I've come to expect it to be honest. I do understand your annoyance after making so much effort and then they can't be bothered even to show up on time! Have a good vent here and then put it behind you (and swear never to invite them to a dinner party again!)
