It is possible to do as it is within the minimum connection time for the airport, but as mentioned it is very tight. I would suggest that throughout a season many will make the connection , many will not.
You would need to be prepared to miss the first day or two of your holiday as they try to get you to your destination (depending on time of year, might be later that day , but most likely indirect). If you don't want to go earlier, than I would also suggest you look at flying to AMS later in the day and flying to MCO a day later, staying in a AMS hotel for the nght. It will shorten the holiday by a day, but at least it will remove the stress and uncertainty of a short connection. Or tell him not to go to bed the night before, stay up and then sleep on the Orlando flight. After all, he may finish late, but the following day he will be in a time zone that is 5 hours behind anyway, so the sleep pattern will be altered regardless. It is a difficult situation and only you can make the call, but hope all goes well regardless of the decisions made. Edited at 03:13 PM. |

Forgot the minimum there was 50 minutes (but this maybe just EU to EU flights). This will make it difficult to demand a refund, so earlier flight is the best option if thats the case.
I have a feeling you need to go through passport control at Amsterdam when changing between EU and non EU flights

I must say my previous experience of flying to Amsterdam (and Dublin) is the flight times are much less than they say.
The current gates are really close. MrS just can’t stay up all night. He’s actually not well and I don’t think it would do him any good! |

Take a carry on bag with change of clothes and essentials as it’s well known that luggage is often left behind at Schiphol, especially when the connection is that tight. Our local airport is Humberside and as a travel agent, I was forever getting complaints about it.

Its not the flight times i would worry about, its the departure on time history. You could check several websites for the stats but having flown a lot short haul, I have to say 9 out of 10 flights i take are usually 10-20 minutes late for arrival. I was shocked 2 weeks ago that my Flybe flight didnt just take off on time, it took of 10 minutes early. Taking off on time with them is rare.
Just remember, like I said, the gate will close 15-20 minutes before departure and at a busy airport that isnt much time for your luggage to transfer.
