Where would you add in Universal?

So we are currently booked for 2 weeks Aug 2020 YC with free DDP. Weren't planning on universal originally, but we won't have been for 4 years and it's turning into a bit of an itch that ( more so DH) needs to be scratched. Thought I'd adding a couple of days in. Would ideally want to say at HRH/ RPR for the FOLP as if only doing two days don't want to spend them queuing. Would you add on to the end? Beginning? Or should we just forfeit a couple of our Disneys days. Would love to do 3 weeks ideally but would struggle to get more than 16/17 off work.
Would love to see how other Dibbers did both Disney and universal whilst staying onsite at Disney.

You sound like us on our last visit🤪we did the Universal parks on days 2 and 3 , Uber can pick you up at the front doors and drop you right by the bus loop at Universal👍 They pick up around that area too. We used their app and were there in about half an hour coming back the roads were busy but our driver knew the roads well and it didn’t take any extra time to get back to the resort. Midweek visits still tend to be lighter crowds than the weekends.

Thanks for replying 😀. We've never done US/IOA without express passes ( from staying at HRH) did you find you were able to get on most things?

We have planned in 2 nights RPR before our 6 nights YC at Disney (and then 13 nights offsite).

Yes we did👍We managed quite well without the front of the line express pass and still enjoyed our days since we were staying at Disney we took Uber cars to and from the Universal parks. You’ll be much closer and with the choices available to get to the parks you will still be able to get to the rope drop fairly easily. You have lots of dining options close by too.

We’ve done Disney with universal 4 times now in August, the crowds drop off noticeably at universal at the end of August, more so than at Disney we found.

We try to do universal at the end of the trip and easily get everything done with a two night stay using express passes. I think we’d have still done all the rides without express but we also like to use the pool and squeeze in some shopping so express certainly helps.

If I was adding 2/3 nights at HRH on to the stay it would be at the beginning, only unpacking 1 case maybe if you have several, then moving for 14 nights.

I would do it at the beginning or the end, I don’t think I would have a particular reference for which. I wouldn’t do it in the middle and double pay for expensive hotels.

We always stay at the end or beginning now. We used to choose a night in the middle of our Disney stay but you end up paying for two rooms. This year we have a week at the end of our stay, last year we had a week at the beginning. We think we prefer at the beginning as it means we could have the last night in MK

We did it at the end, mainly cause I’d found a great price for Portofino and knew moving from there to POFQ would be a downgrade. It was actually perfect after the manic Disney part of our trip, we took it really slow and relaxed.
