Has anyone changed BA to do 1st leg night before?

We did exactly this in April with BA from GLA to LGA. When I called she said it was a £150pp amendment fee but asked if I wanted a quote for the airport hotel (we booked a flydrive through BA Holidays). Once she had a quote for the hotel she said they could waive the amendment fee if we booked the hotel through them

Might be worth another phonecall? Even if you don't use the hotel booking it would be cheaper
