Berwick-Upon-Tweed Area

Anyone have any suggestions what to do there?
The city walls walk looks interesting, anyone done it ?

Holy Island, Bamburgh and Alnwick Castle already on the itinerary but what’s to do in Berwick upon Tweed. Only ever seen it from the train ... it does look nice though.

Any suggestions?

City walks around the walls quite good. Barracks museum was interesting. Does it need to be in Berwick completely? as there is Ford and Etal Estates with Heatherslaw nearby. Northumberland Zoo for a few hours visit (just south of alnwick).

We had a lovely day in Berwick last weekend. We parked in the quays car park and walked along the riverside to the castle ruins, it’s a lovely walk with great views of the royal border bridge. A full walk round the city walls taking in all the information boards too have a real insight in to the history. You can walk out towards the lighthouse too. We thought it was a fabulous little town to wonder round and underrated.
We were near here for a week and did the ford and etal area. I’d highly recommend Norham Castle for a wander round and it’s free. Holy Island was nice but like the M1 with cars and people. Beadnell Bay was a nice beach and good for watching water sports. Union bridge is worth a walk/drive over.
We went up to Eyemouth for an evening and saw the seals in the harbour, did some crabbing and had a lovely tea in a fish and chip/ice cream restaurant. We also took the train to Edinburgh for the day. A lovely part of the country.

Can't beat Giacopazzi's at Eyemouth harbour for fish and chips and wonderful ice cream.

I can suggest stuff between Newcastle and Edinburgh. We live / work / family in these areas. Any questions just ask. A quick search will pull up recent suggestions.

We love Mackays in Eyemouth as well. Eldest goes just for the Scottish Tablet ice cream.

If you head to Eyemouth- the rib trip leaves from there and a great opportunity to see the dolphins. coldingham sands is a lovely beach, with beach cafe and they do surfing. If you haven’t booked accommodation yet, Colania Dean luxury lodges are amazing, with hot tubs. Lovely coastal walks. St Abbs is the setting for New Asgard In the Avengers Movies And us a lovely little fishing village. Further up the coast at Dunbar you have East Links Farm Park and also Foxlakes which is great for the older kids with high ropes over the water, high ropes in woods, ringos, wakeboarding and segways. Hope this helps

As a rib driver myself it might be a bit of a bus mans holiday - but other members of the party might enjoy it. Some great ideas from you - many thanks
