Villa Cancelled
Our 2021 villa has just been cancelled by the owner as they are putting it on the market.
I now need to try and find a villa from 24 June for 3 weeks, not really sure where to start I have put a request in the Dibb request section however would like to look at other options too. |

Sorry to read this, sadly I think it may happen more and more. Many people can support an empty villa for a few months but when it goes on for nearly a year things get serious.
I hope you find somewhere soon. Maybe if you post your exact requirements ie number if beds etc it may help. |

I have always done very well with Holidaylettings.co.U.K (part of Expedia).
Whilst any company can look good when things go well, it is how they perform when they are up against it that separates the truly good companies from the charlatans (and that includes airlines, no names mentioned). Around 2017, we had booked a Villa through Holidaylettings for Easter School Hols. The owner sold up 4 weeks before we were due to take occupancy. We were travelling with friends and were truly concerned that both we had been let down and in turn, we had let others down (we had booked it). Holidaylettings were all over it, researching for me and within a couple of days finding an excellent replacement. They were superb. When a company demonstrates its mettle in adversity , that is when I judge it and if they come up to scratch, then I become loyal. If I perceive that a company has failed me or others, then I never use them again.

Credit due to the owner for being upfront and honest about selling.

Same here, I now need to find a villa for 17th May for 2 weeks. Feel so sorry for the owners having to sell. We were due to go here in April, so I've missed 2 visits.

I am always surprised when owners cancel booking because they are selling, surely most people buying villas in Florida intend to let them, wouldn't they be grateful to have a few bookings already? Maybe ask the owner to pass your details to the new buyer and see if you can still go if that was the perfect villa for you. If not I expect there will be a greater than usual choice of villas at the moment with many people reluctant yet to book

I think we are going to see more and more of this unfortunately. The one I have booked is up for sale. Villa owner said she will contact me if they get a buyer. She said they have had offers but for ridiculously low money. Cant imagine the stress of having a huge mortgage with no income.
Hope you get sorted op.

From what I hear most of the villas are being bought by folks moving to the area for work or by Americans from northern states as second homes with no intention of renting them to holiday-makers.
This may go someway to explaining why Owners who are selling are cancelling bookings.

Yes recent reports seem to indicate that there’s currently more demand for houses than what’s available.
I’ve rented from the Dibb villa section a few times and had good experiences 👍 |
