Virgin Reward Flights

So after a 12 month absence I’m back on the Dibb and have a countdown.

I have a question about Virgin reward flights which I will apologies in advance if it’s been answered 1000 times, but here goes.

What are the chances of getting 3 upper class reward flights at the end of August next year (27th August to 11th Sept) I read somewhere that BA only allocate 2 Club World reward flights per flight peak season and wondered if Virgin did something similar.

The outward journey on Upper is what I want and happy to come back economy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated... 370 days of planning to go.

Are you flying to MCO? There are only 14 UC seats on the 747. If you would consider MIA you will have more chance as there are more seats. We have managed to bag 7 (yes 7!) UC rewards next May Heathrow to Miami.

Wow... 7 that’s impressive. Happy to go indirect, in fact I think I would prefer to go via Miami as the Dreamliner flys in there. Not a big fan of the Upper Class on the 747.

Can I ask how many points it was each and tax for you? And did you book 11 months before... as in on the day they were released?

If you’re prepared to go indirect then there is a very good chance you could get UC both ways if you go via JFK. Virgin have just introduced the new A350 to that route and the UC cabin has 44 seats. I just got 5 UC reward seats for Jan 4th 2020 without any problem at all.

95,000 miles + 671 tax per person. We booked outbound 11 months in advance but had to wait for the return flights to come on for about 6 weeks. It still costs the same if you book the two legs separately. We are driving up to Orlando.

use the reward finder tool as this will show availability and the number of miles needed

as stated earlier the MCO flight only has 14 UC seats..
I would like 4 but I never see them - although sometimes they have appeared late August so there is hope!

It’s a lot more miles for indirect though. And the internal US flight wouldn’t be a proper upper class flight.

Thanks for the replies... i’m going to try and book to Miami and either drive up or get a cheap internal flight. I really don’t want to fly direct on the 747 that’s about to be retired.

I love the upper class section on the 747. Only 14 seats but there’s loads of room, great service.
You will find more availability to Miami in advance. Orlando they tend to drop more miles seats nearer the time for the peak times.
