Question homemade soup?

anyone have any fool proof recipes for a tasty homemade soup?
I've tried various recipes but not sure what I do wrong as every time I try making one it ends up bland or tasteless

My DH does a nice broth in the slow cooker. Shredded chicken bacon lardons, grated carrot potato and onion split lentils with chicken and veg stock cubes and some seasoning and leaves it for hours. It is amazing!

2 bags of chopped sweet potato and butternut squash from Tesco
2 chicken stock cubes or vegetable ones
Boil above in a couple of pints of water, adding more as it thickens
When veg is soft, stir in a tin of coconut milk or packet of coconut cream, grated.
Check seasoning and adjust with salt and pepper

I have a soup maker. It’s brilliant.

I use the prepared bags of veg, or sweet potato and roasted red pepper, or maybe lentil soup.

I add stock cubes, salt & pepper, maybe garlic or paprika or chilli flakes - whatever herbs and spices the soup would suit. Lovely!

bag of red lentils
smoked gammon sliced
diced carrot
diced onion
ham stock cubes

add all ingredients to the slow cooker, I usually cook on high for 4/5 hours. When the times up, remove the gammon & shred it, pop it back in & stir through

serve with crusty bread

The way to go...

Following the introduction of the soup maker other method of construction is redundant

It’s such a faff on without the soup maker (for me). I only like smooth but thick soup, can never find a tin I like and I cannot be bothered with making it from scratch the traditional way.
Soup maker is perfect for me.

If anybody is looking for a nice soup I made this yesterday and it was really good. For the topping I bought frozen pearl onions, browned them off in a pan and the roasted in the oven. I put a couple on top with a sprinkling of crispy bacon pieces. It was well worth the effort
