I saw this today, it would not usually be my type of film but I was asked to review the cinema. It was a really dark film but it gives you an understanding as to why he is the way he is. It was a bit bloody but I am glad I saw it.

I really don't know what I think about this film. I can see the acting involved. Maybe a bit too much.

My real issue is over the use once again of psychiatric illness in making the "baddie". I did an academic paper many years ago about the influence of the how mental illness is shown on popular entertainment and its affect on the stigma felt by by people with mental health problems. This film was amoungst the worst I have seen in perpetuating it.

It was as a film intense. Perhaps overacted at points. It really had me thinking about its effects.

I wasn't aware of this, thanks, I too hate the way mental illness is misrepresented in media, I'm not so eager to see it now.

Mental Health is a huge factor in this story.
It was slow to start & actually a really sad story.
Phoenix was an amazing actor in this.
Also , just to mention I was shocked at them using a Gary Glitter song as a main feature , although I have read he will get no royalties from it as he doesnt own it now.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Arthur Fleck was let down by nearly everyone. Very well acted by Joaquin Phoenix.

I really do not think they shouldve used the Gary Glitter song. If he wouldve received royalties, I would not of viewed the movie.
