Mobile Damaged goods

I have had so many deliveries with damaged goods it’s becoming a joke!
Many of the items I have received damaged have been refunded but the company have only wanted photos/evidence, not a return.
I am then stuck with a broken, useless item. I am also worried about re ordering the same item in case it arrives broken again.
I understand delivery companies are extremely busy and under pressure to get things delivered but some of my items have arrived in totally crushed boxes, smashed contents, wet, ripped open boxes and contents sodden and ruined.
With 3 children you can imagine the amount of items I am currently ordering. I do not want to rush out and hit the shops in December when lockdown ends because I believe a lot of people will be doing that so apart from my usual weekly food shop I am avoiding any non essential shopping.
I feel so sorry for the small businesses I have ordered from as it is not their fault that their items have arrived damaged so if it is a esty small business and the item is under £10 I have not even bothered to complain.

Has anyone else been getting damaged goods?
Or am I particularly unlucky at the moment?

When I say damaged, I mean very damaged and completely useless:

My wife had 2 deliveries from next of breakable presents and both items were broken, so she spent ages trying to speak to someone who eventually arranged for new items to be sent which they did, but they then charged again for the replacement two items!

My wife has spent ages calling them twice to resolve this but she's not holding her breath. I don't get how this is so complicated for a business to sort?

I have loads of damaged items arrive too. Some companies have insisted I send the item back even after I sent a photo - which is fine but the original packaging is not going to make the return journey. To be fair to the delivery people - my broken items look really poor packaged - fragile items just in an over sized box with little to no protection. Worst deliveries were from Asda and Disney.

I also tried a few new websites - won’t be using them again - 2 wrong items delivered - they either want me to pay to return or will give me 60% off. Taken the discount as it was cheaper than paying for the return - not sure what to Dow its things I don’t want or need - charity probably

I don't know the last time I had a damaged item. Certainly not in the last 2+ years but there again most of my gear comes from Amazon and they pack well.

My view is clear - not my problem. I would claim off the seller no matter what the cost be it £1 or £100. They should pack it well enough to survive the 'journey'

I recently had 5m lengths of MDF skirting delivered by Courier. Now that must have been a nightmare due to the length. Excellent packaging and perfectly fine.

Thats rather disappointing from such a large company !
All my broken/ damaged goods have always just been refunded. Its then the decision to re order or not and risk more damaged goods arriving 😫😫

The platter above is from asda, incredibly poorly packaged but the delivery guy said ‘sorry love but this is smashed, we just throw things around, not our problem if they are packaged wrong! ’

I totally agree that Amazon package their goods extremely well 👍🏻
I have ordered a few items that are obviously from a seller via Amazon and they are usually dreadful. I need to check more carefully were my items are actually coming from.

No I have very rarely received anything that has been broken / damaged in transit. I have little sympathy for the business sending it if they are not packaging properly. If i am interpreting your photo correctly, that plate appears to have been sent in a slightly padded envelope?
