Non slip boots
I have a terrible fear of falling and so I find it very difficult to walk on frosty or icy pavements. Can anyone suggest a pair of boots that are completely non slip and would give me the confidence to go out and walk during the winter?

I'm exactly the same when it comes to walking on ice. I've had a few falls and literally have a panic attack when I see Ice😩. A couple of years ago I bought some snow boots with a retractable ice gripper in the sole. Luckily we've missed the bad weather the last couple of winters so I've not had the opportunity to wear them.

I have snow walking boots from Decathlon. Love them. Good deep tread plus lovely and warm.

you can get ice grips for shoes and boots that can be attached to any pair - i bought some years ago but not needed them since!

I slip in everything including boots that claim to be anti slip.
I find proper walking boots the best though. Just bought a new pair for this winter, Regatta with vibram soles, fingers crossed there’s not too much slipping in these. They’re certainly comfortable and warm but time will tell if they’re any good on icy pavements. |

I had a go at curling a couple of years ago and they had over shoes (slip overs) which allowed you to walk on slick ice.
Maybe something like that work where you could just put them over the shoes you happen to be wearing when you need them. They really did stick well on ice. |

I am exactly the same. When it’s icy I always feel as if I’m falling and my feet Nd legs go I all directions so I tend not to go out. Way back in 2010, during the terrible winter, I got the slip on grips - which I had to tie on with shoe laces because they kept coming off - and felt totally safe and never slid once. Still have them packed away, along with the snow boots, thermals and fleeced lined waterproof trousers I bought that winter.

I have trouble getting from the house to the car and having good boots with anti slip soles seems easier than the grips. Or maybe I’m just lazy! I would worry the grips pierced holes in my driveway! 😉
