Choice between CSR and AKL

Although we have been to Florida a number of times over the last few years we haven't been to Disney itself for about 6 or 7 years. We used to own DVC so always stayed at either BCV or SSR when staying onsite in the past, but sold our DVC a few years ago.

We are planning a trip for next August and doing both Disney and Universal. We are planning on 6 nights at Disney, without a car and have a choice between the following:

1) A water view room in the Destino tower at CSR with an upgrade to full DDP - £3021

2) A standard view room at AKL with full DDP - £3459

I can't decide which to go for. The CSR room is bigger but doesn't have a balcony. The AKL rooms are darker but have the bonus of a balcony - we do like to sit out first thing or before bed.

We have never stayed at either resort before but have visited AKL in the past to eat.

Any views/preferences? We are 2 adults and a 15 year old.

Animal Kingdom lodge is a deluxe and I've heard great great things, that being said I've heard good things about CSR too. The reviews on CRS can be mixed due to conferences so if this bothers you id take this in to consideration. If it where me I think id be inclined to go for AKL as the price difference isn't too much, that being said if I were on a tight budget id go for CSR!
I think I would rather have the balcony too...

Gran Destino is terrific and a much better option than a standard room at AKL

I'd go for AKL but that's due to preference of theming.

Gran Destino.

Better room, much much quieter resort with substantially less non resident visitors, who undoubtedly put a strain on hotel facilities.

I stayed at CSR and AKL on my first visit before the tower was added. I preferred the vibe at CSR because it felt like an escape and was really relaxed. The buses were much quicker from CSR - AKL felt like it took ages to get anywhere, even AK. We had Savannah view and it was amazing, but I'm not sure I would bother without that. Also the CSR Tower will feel much more new, I didn't find AKL that luxurious compared to CSR.

I’d go for gran destino tower. Because it's lovely and new and will have a great view. Plus it’s cheaper 😃
