Rough last week
I have posted on here before regarding my son, who had a kidney transplant last June at 2 years old.
He was born premature (28 weeks) with kidney disease and has had a rough start to life, having to be on dialysis and having a kidney transplant at such a young age. He has done so well since and we finally managed to go on our long awaited Florida holiday in November, which was just incredible and he loved it so much. Unfortunately, the day we got home he started being sick, which we assumed must have been a bug he picked up on the plane. However, he didn’t get better and following blood tests, he was diagnosed as having T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 20th Dec! We had to spend Christmas in hospital and he started Chemo yesterday and we now face a long road back to recovery. All with not knowing how his transplanted kidney will cope with the drugs, as they say they have never seen another case like this in the uk. The hospital don’t believe it is related to his transplant at all and that it’s just one of those things. We are just devastated! I can’t believe that after years of fighting kidney disease, he now has to face this. At only 3 years old! How is that fair? |
