Question about regular TS DDP
I am going in September on a solo trip and have the TS DDP.
I am a proper keeno and have already picked out what restaurants I want to eat at, and had a look at the menus online. I am aware with the TS DDP, you get one Entree and one dessert? Is that correct? The thing is, I dont like desserts! And the places I want to eat, I have loads of things to pick from on the main course section, but I just do not like desserts. In a nutshell, am I wasting money doing to TS plan? Because with a dessert being including, with me not eating it - what do any of you suggest?

I believe that you can always ask to swap a dessert for a appetiser if that would help you.
You also get either a alcoholic or non alcoholic drink with your meal. With the DDP you get one quick service meal, one table service and two snacks. Also a refillable mug from your resort. This can be used at other resort quick service locations but not the parks.

Some restaurants will let you swap a dessert for a small soup, salad or fruit plate. If you’ve paid for DDP and don’t like desserts I’d be inclined to see if you can cancel it.

You absolutely cannot do this. A few places will let you have a small salad or a soup but for the most part this is not available either. But. Desserts cannot be swapped for appetisers.
Op. If you have paid for the plan I’d cancel it and put the cost of the plan on a pre paid card and pay as you go. You will then have full access to the appetiser menu and so long as you you don’t spend more than the cost of the dining plan you have lost nothing. If you’ve had the plan for free I’d stick with it and allocate myself a bit of an appetiser budget and enjoy.

I don’t like desserts either and you absolutely cannot swap a dessert for a starter, starters are typically twice the price of desserts so restaurants will not accommodate this.
I have / will have had two trips in last two years without free dining. Last year we paid for everything OOP and this year I will have a purchased dining plan. I loved the freedom and flexibility of OOP last year, can eat anywhere and choose anything from the menu. But I didn’t do any character meals and did not order the lobster as freely as I might do with a dining plan. I am not sure if purchasing a plan is the best thing to do though and I still might cancel it, but I have until later this year to decide as it is for my December trip. |

If you have the DDP free, then no harm done. If you don't eat dessert no-one will force you! Also do bear in mind that some restaurants have a cheese plate and this can often be classed as dessert - I have done this a couple of times.
If you are paying for it, then it may be best to reconsider.
