I'd suggest contacting BA holidays too. It's easier to get through if you phone as soon as their contact centre opens, which I think is 7.30am.

Thanks but I don't have twitter! Am a dinosaur!

I contacted BA, and they explained that the reason the Hotel cannot change my booking is that they would be interfering with a contract of BA, and they are not allowed to do that. (when we arrive at Hotel might be different scenario)

They are looking into it but said at present, the terms of my booking apply (i.e. its non changeable) I said I am not happy about that as I was not informed when booking. They are looking into it...

Surely BA had a responsibility to advise you of the building work next to the hotel.
We recently went on holiday with Jet2. They had warning notices against some hotels we were considering and you had tick the box confirming you had read the warning notice before you could proceed with the booking.

Louise. Some good articles on Which online. Basically BA are up the creek without a paddle if they don’t do anything and when you turn up the noise is unacceptable.

Edit. I am also a dinosaur! I thought Twitter was a bird call

Are you a Tomorrowsaurus rex?

I would rather not have to wait until we turn up and find it awful, but at the same time, we could find its fine. Will wait to see what they come back with.

A few years ago I booked a hotel with BA and then found out that a major re-furb would’ve been underway when I got there.

BA let me cancel and get a refund for the hotel but I kept the flight & hire car. I then booked another hotel through Virgin Holidays.

I would love to cancel the Hotel and book my own, but that would just leave my flights, and don't think they would let me do that, you were lucky!

If necessary you could add on a compact car for one day and not even pick it up.
