USA Where next?
We've had city breaks to New York, Washington and San Francisco and loved them all. Looking for dibbers suggestions of where to go next. Where do you recommend and why?

New Orleans. I did a quick 3 day visit just to have a look and its one of the places I really want to return to. There is so much history and its a great mix of old and new. The heat and humidity are harsh in the summer, though.

How about Boston coupled with a few extra days in Cape Cod.
We did it in a strange way though. Flew to Boston and stayed in the centre for 2 or 3 days then flew to San Francisco for a week then back to Boston and drove to Cape Cod via Plymouth Rock. Boston very walkable (although we did use the subway over to Harvard for a stroll). Cape Cod very pretty and pretty English in town names. Lots of history and a shorter flight. Mick

Echo the Boston and Cape Cod suggestion, we’ve done that twice.
We also did a New Year break in Chicago a few years ago and enjoyed that, although it was ridiculously cold. We weren’t huge fans of Philadelphia if I’m honest.

Boston would be my suggestion. Or LA, San Diego, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, New Orleans...
TBH, if I was booking a USA city break I would choose based on flight prices and hotel prices. We’re not very flexible on dates due to school holidays so price is an important factor. Also, the season that you’re going would play a part in decision making - I wouldn’t go to Chicago in the winter (too cold), Vegas or New Orleans in the height of summer (too hot), Boston is beautiful in the autumn and Miami is perfect for winter sun. |

I’ve not been myself but I quite fancy Nashville. Redrach did a trip report a few years ago and it looks like fun.

Another vote for Boston and if time permits Cape Cod. Lots to see and do in Boston and most of it is walkable.

Thanks for all the ideas. Beth - Good idea about checking cost of flights/hotel prices as we're not fixed on a location.

Boston is good for a city break and usually decent price flights I also enjoyed Chicago when I went. New Orleans is high on the list for a future trip as well!
