It’s mad. It’s something I am seeing more and more.

My next door neighbour wears shorts all year round. He was in his garden yesterday in T-shirt and shorts with his dog. I hung out my washing wearing several layers including a coat and ran back in to heat my hands on the radiator as it was 2 degrees with a freezing cold wind.

Edited at 01:05 PM.

I know a postie that is almost always in shorts, no idea why. Another guy I know wears shorts when walking and he says it gets circulation going or something along them lines.

Although not as cold here in Kent (it's currently 10°) our postie's are quite often in shorts. I've also seen quite a few men out in shorts walking their dogs in the cold weather.

They make em tough up north, our postie had shorts on all last week, I thought it was he was made of strong stuff but I think he was that fed up of having soggy trouser bottoms he thought shorts were better, not sure if he's got shorts on today we don't get our post until about 2pm

Remember seeing on TV a few years back that at most post office depots the posties have a competition as to who can wear shorts the longest into winter and many just wear them all year round.

Was in Bruges last week for the match and a few fans were wearing them then, not only bloody cold but more or less torrential rain for two days

Ours started wearing shorts about 20 years ago when he was a young lad. I asked him why and he said it was a competition and whoever wore them the longest won the pot. No one could win anything now as they all seem to be in shorts, whatever the weather, except for our now middle aged postman.

Our milkman is the same - at 4 in the morning! The security camera shows he only went into long trousers last week.
