Water bottles and parks
Hello,
We are going to Florida in July and we would like to take our own water bottles to the parks. So I have a few questions, are there lots of places we can fill up our water bottles? Does the water taste OK? And finally I was thinking of buying filter water bottles, are these any good? Thank you. 😁 |

Yes we used refillable bottles last year. Not many places have dedicated bottle filling water fountains however you can get cups of water from any counter service place and fill up using them. We found it tasted fine.

Some of the water fountains are ok some taste yeuck, but you can get free iced water at anywhere that sells "fountain soda" ( coke from a pipe to us ) not just in restaurants, but also from drinks carts .So why carry a bottle, just get it nice and cold when you want it.

I agree that carrying a bottle about is a pain however we found we felt much better being able to rehydrate at any point, including in queues.

This does not really answer your question but ... Just to add an idea to this - we always take two filled water bottles - one chilled and one frozen at start of day and leave two frozen water bottles in the car glove compartment or central storage between the front seats so when we get back to the car it has defrosted and we have ice cold water. We all really look forward to that! Agree with another post though - some water from the fountains tastes a bit yuk!

Maybe we are just getting used to it, but water tasted fine to all of us this trip. We just drank tap water in the villa and water from any fountain in the park.
I would recomend the brita filter bottles, they seemed to help with the taste when it was an issue in the past. This feb trip we just used the fountains. Last Aug trip we would use any QS place, asked for 8 cups of iced water. Drank 2 or 3 between us and poured the rest plus the ice in to the bottles. They would then stay cool for another 60-90 mins. Then repeat. |

This was one of the first tips I picked up from the Dibb when I joined. In the hot months it is a godsend. Another tip was ziplock bags containing ice in your backpack to keep the water you are carrying nice and cool for longer.
