Are there Any daytime flights on return?
I have always had overnight return flights from Florida but after flying back into Gatwick yesterday from Barbados overnight, I’m wandering if there are any airlines that return in the morning or lunchtime? The problem is that we live 4,5 hours drive from Gatwick and the drive is a nightmare when you have had no sleep. We are looking at October half term next year, either MCO, TPA Or MIA. Thanks.

You’d have to go via New York or Washington DC.

Norwegian have an 8am flight from New York. And there are a few from DC.
Years ago we got the monarch flight direct to Newcastle which left at 3pm and landed about 4am and that was very good for jetlag as you could get in. Go to bed and still wake up at say 10 having had a good few hours sleep but not being totally out of sync with the day. |

The daytime flights are too early to connect from Florida but if you are happy to fly up the evening before and stay at an airport hotel are a doable option. I find when I’ve done that I’ve ended up with no jet lag at all.

Orlando to Dublin arrives at lunchtime (UK time) after leaving 10pm USA time. If you can get a decent connection that might suit you

If you can fly from Jacksonville they have an early flight that connects in New York, leaves about 6am and lands london around 10pm. It was one I was looking into as prefer day time flying.

I would go for trying to leave the US as late as possible. The trouble is most flights gets you in around 7am which is 2am, therefore I find that just as we are landing I want to sleep.
Last time we left Miami about 10pm, so by the time we had some food I was actually tired enough to sleep. We landed about midday in the UK and I didn’t feel the need to go to bed and felt I could wait till the evening to sleep. |
