Mobile Everglades boat tour

We want to go to the Everglades while we are in Florida but trying to decide a) who to go with and b) is it better to do it from Miami or Kissimmee (we have a car and happy to drive where we need to be)

Technically the Everglades are nowhere near Kissimmee, you need to head down to Miami and beyond. However there are airboat trips close to Kissimmee which many on here have done. We've been to the Everglades Holiday Park just to the west of Fort Lauderdale, and also to one on the Tamiami out of Miami but I don't recall the name. There is the Everglades visitor centre close to Florida City which is very informative and a nice couple of hours.

The one on the Tamiami trail is Shark Valley , its a great place to visit in winter , we have been there twice at New Year and it is wall to wall alligators

Make sure you have plenty of bug spray! August is not the best time to visit a swamp.

The airboat trips around Kissimmee are in Everglades headwaters, we've been with Spirit of the Swamp twice and would thoroughly recommend them.
We've done a 90 minute and a 2 hour trip, saw gators (some large, some tiny babies), bald eagles, snail kites and ospreys both times and its not far from the US192
