Similar to Warkman it wasn't a big thing in our household. Sad of course but we were more fed up of all the constant coverage. More fed up (sorry) with the tears, flowers, general public (men! ) blubbering and cuddling on TV. That's when the UK lost its backbone.
Yes I know grumblings of an old f**t 🤣 but it was pretty much the same with all my friends, sons etc. |

It hasn't been 23 years, SF. You must be mistaken! At most, 8 or 9!

I find it a little sad that someone could be “ not fussed” about a young woman with two small children losing their life in tragic circumstances.
I can also remember the day very clearly. It was our wedding anniversary, I was expecting and we had just moved into our new home. What a waste of a beautiful mum and those two young boys whose lives would never be the same. |

It was and, at the moment, we're seeing some of the sad effects, perhaps, of that grief more publicly.

Hubby had been working nights and he woke me and told me when he got in.
I remember it quite clearly - I was also really nervous that day as my brother was doing a parachute jump!

I was going on holiday with my ex that morning. Up at silly o’clock.
News when we got up was there had been an accident. Didn’t sound serious. Mentioned Diana maybe having a broken arm and other minor injuries. Started to sound more serious as we left for the airport. Was wandering the swatch shop in departures and there was an announcement she’d died. It was a time when news wasn’t easily accessible so until we landed in Spain, we couldn’t see or hear any more news. We were staying with friends who lived in Spain. Myself and one of our friends we stayed with wanted to watch the funeral. Not royalists at all, but both both felt it was something we wanted to do. Part of our history. People I know who went into London at that time mentioned how overwhelming the smell from the flowers was getting off the tube even. |

Reading this brings back the terrible sadness of her death. I was always “a Diana person”. Making me a bit teary.
How sad she would be at what is happening with her boys & I am definitely not trying to star a conversation about who is or is not to blame |

I’m 44 so don’t consider myself an old f**t yet but completely agree. I was at uni at the time she died and found out as I got home from being at a party. At that time my part time weekend job was a cleaner in a hospital. What struck me was how wrong it was that people were hysterical for this person they did not know when many many of the old dears in hospital rarely (and some never) received visitors.
