Booking Disney parks

Hopefully we will be going to Orlando in sept 2021

I believe you need to purchase park tickets in order to book the park you want to visit

If I pay for park tickets now and link them to my Disney account and book the parks I want to visit

What happens if covid is still around and we can't go does linking the tickets and reserving the parks activate the tickets in a way you can't get a refund on them

I had linked up tickets and booked parks for December this year. I subsequently cancelled the trip and everything was refunded. This was a hotel and ticket package booking.
