Portmerion

As we couldn't go to our happy home in the sunshine this Autumn, we decided to book two nights at Portmerion.

We have always wanted to go, as a couple in our mid 60's we remember watching the Prisoner every week.

Arrived Tuesday night and was taken to our one bedroom apartment just below the bell tower in the village. Had a meal booked for that night in the Hotel which we enjoyed but felt it was a bit expensive.

Next morning had breakfast at the hotel then started to walk around the village, when we wanted a drink we went back to the apartment, then carried on with our tour finding unusual pictures and statues.
In the evening we went into Porthmadog and went to a little bar/cafe called "Spooner" connected to the Ffestinog railway station of Porthmadog. Had some lovely homemade steak and Ale Pie and Welsh Lamb Burger. Lovely food and good seeing some of the trains moving about.

Thursday left the apartment and had breakfast back at the hotel before having another walk around the village before leaving at midday to take a slow drive back via the B roads towards Shrewbury then back home to Buckinghamshire.

Loved our stay and made lots of lovely memories.

Melvin and Lesley

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Love, love Porthmadog. Hubby is a steam train fanatic so we've been there often.

One of our favourite places for many years. Look at their Winter Blues package for good value on their usual prices.

Thank you for this, sounds lovely. We're off to Portmeirion soon, staying in the castle, very much looking forward to it (& half preparing incase anything changes and we can't go!).

Any must do's - aside from running around saying "I'm not a number, I'm a free man..."

We visited back in September on our way home from West Wales, and booked the lunchtime offer at the Castell Deudreth restaurant. This was £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3 courses, but you do get admission included, which given it costs £13, makes the lunch a steal.
