Dorian Disruption.

I’m just making our claim for the additional nights due to our amended flights.
OH wants me to claim for food.
Is that acceptable? Seems a bit cheeky to me. We’d have to eat at home 🤷
I said no but he thinks it’s reasonable and actually it is on the form. 🤔

I’ll go with the majority!

I’d say unless you had a stupidly expensive meal it would be fair to claim for a reasonable meal, as if you were at home you’d have eaten - but it would have likely cost less then what you had to have out there.

We can’t claim now as our flights were with Thomas Cook. However when we were notified by TC that they couldn’t fly us home until 3 days after our scheduled flight the email said to claim for hotel and food.
So as the above poster says, as long as each meal was an “average” price then I would claim.
Most restaurants were closed so we just got take out and bought a “hurricane pack” from Walmart with the basics in it (water/tinned food etc) So we ate that.
Good luck with your claim.

I’ll submit the receipts for the couple of counter service meals and ignore the rest.

Kempydee.
How annoying. Were you much out of pocket? I was only going to claim for the hotel bill as we quite enjoyed the extra time. Thankfully it wasn’t a big bill though.

We didn’t claim for food as BA were quite generous and looked after us when our flight home was delayed by 9 hrs due to the knock on effects of Dorian. However we put in a claim for flight delay compensation directly with BA and we got the funds this morning. It’s gone straight towards the next trip! Very straight forward process.
