Where to go in UK in January ?

DH and I have booked a week off towards the end of January just because we need a break.

Any ideas about where we could go and what we could do in the UK? We have no inclination to try to go abroad!

We are North East England based, and 50+

Thanks Dibbers

Whinfell Center Parks is always good, and not all weather dependent.

Oh, enjoy! The Spa is lovely there and the central shopping / restaurant area is fully covered so even if it rains you can sit 'out'.

I was about to suggest center parcs 'if you can get it' as its sooo popular now with many holidaying in the UK. Enjoy, depending on when you go in Jan the winter wonderland and light trail might still be up!

What is included at center parcs? Not obvious when looking on the website other than the pool?
Also is it good for adults only?

Yes I've been adults only several times and had a blast.
The only free activity is the pool, plus walks, playgrounds, the lake etc. The general setting.
All other activities are paid for.
When I've gone adults only we've done the spa and swum in the dark in the evening, it was awesome.

We've only ever been as an adult party and it's definitely our happy place. I never wanted to go but was persuaded to give it a try and now love it.

You have got me looking at this to take the grandchildren for a few days. Are the extra activities expensive? I can’t see prices which makes me suspicious!

Also it says you turn up to swim with swimwear under your clothes - what happens after your swim? they say there are no showers or hairdryers at the moment.
