It may be a silly question, but are you using the quick boil function on the hob?

It could definitely be the pans. Stainless steel and cast iron work best on induction, but some of the pans that claim to work on induction may only have a thin stainless steel disc layered into the pan and this may not be enough to properly heat the pot.

Do you have any SS pot to do a comparison test with? Also, is your hob hard wired in, or plugged in? Sometimes the plugged in one doesn't have the same power as hard wired, but I would have thought it would have enough power to boil a pot sprouts!

Eh, maybe not such a silly question as I haven’t used it 🙈. Will try it later today and see if that makes a difference! Thank you 😊

It’s a hard wired AEG one. I agree, I think it’s either the pans or I need to use the booster option as above. I couldn’t believe how long it took to make the sprouts 🤣. Had quite a long rant about it haha.

My money is on it making a massive difference (not sure what the function is officially called, but my hob is a Bosch and it’s labelled ‘boost’)

Ours definitely has that option, I just need to read instructions again. I didn’t think to try it as I thought I would only need to use that for a big pot of soup or similar, but obviously should have given it a go anyway. Thanks again ☺️

I did a test with my hob when we moved her, put the same amount of water to boil in the kettle as in a pan on the hob, both reached boiling at the same time

Something seems wrong here. Ours boils water amazingly fast. Even big pots. It takes a fraction of the time compared to a kettle.

Personally, I wouldn't use the boost option on anything other than boiling a pot of water, as it is VERY powerful.

I rarely go above 8.5, and that would be to bring a pot of vegetables to a boil (again, mostly water).

Agree some pans are better than others. I have a lightweight non stick supermarket pan that takes a blumming age to warm up. I like the size of it though so keep using it 🙄

Is the pan you're using the right size for the ring? So not much smaller or bigger than the ring?

Clutching at straws here 😂 erm is the water boiling before you put the sprouts in? Then whack the lid on with with power boost but stay close by to lower the temp as it bubbles?

We've had our I induction hob for 5 years. 3 times I've took my eye off the hob when boosting. Omg. The clean up is a mare. Water in all the drawers underneath and it seeps through between the hob and the worktop. Not that you asked just a warning 😁
