Genie+ - Not compatible with any of our devices
We have several Android devices but none appear to be compatible wit Genie+. Is there any way to sideload it, or should we just not bother.

What phones do you have? It works fine on my Android (Pixel). Can you access MDE at all and it's just the Genie side that's not working? It's intended to be used on the day so typically throws errors trying to access it beforehand.
Unless you're planning on paying for Genie+ though, you don't need to use the Genie side of the app at all. I didn't find it that useful. |

how do you mean not compatible? You might struggle with more than just Genie+ if MyDisneyExperience doesnt work on your phone, the park is moving to just about everything done in MDE.
Genie+ is just an "addon" to your ticket, you will need MDE to book your slots though. Edited at 02:03 PM. |

Two devices running Android 7. Tablet has MDE but won't install Genie. Phone doesn't have MDE and can't see it in Play Store.
I presume the tablet has had MDE installed for a while - from when it was compatible. I'm hoping I can manage by just using the web version of MDE.

Genie doesnt install. It is part of MDE. I have NEVER used Genie, nor have I configured Genie on my phone. I believe it has prerequisites:
1) you must have MDE installed on your device. 2) you must have valid park tickets 3) you need to have a park reservation 4) family and friends on the tickets need to be added I then did the following (just now). I opened MDE, the home screen shows my valid ticket booking. Just above this is large blue box entitled "unleash Genie during your visit" "learn more" which I clicked It wanted me to choose a date between my booking dates, I already have park reservations for all my dates. ONce I click on the dates it shows the park. Next screen wanted me to select the people on my tickets, next screen wanted me to choose rides. I didnt need to install anything other than MDE. As for why MDE wont install on your phone, the way to see "why" is search for MDE in a browser and when it opens in play store it usually gives you a reason why it cannot be installed. I.e. search for MDE in google, this takes you to a page in google where you can click "install". This opens the play store app but will now be greyed out saying something like "not available in your region" or "your android version is too old" etc. |

I suspect the latest version isn't Android 7 compatible although I'm having trouble finding the minimum specs for it. Do you get an error launching the Play Store link directly?
play.google/store/apps/d...w.android& You won't be able to use Genie+ from the web version as far as I'm aware as it's restricted to the app, but it will be fine for things like ADRs. Edited at 02:12 PM. |

This happened to me on my June 2019 trip. I could download and use the regular Disneyland App but my phone was not compatible with the Play Disney App. At the time I had a Huawei phone and the USA had banned the sale of Huawei phones.
I just checked my Samsung phone, its Android 11 and I have no issues with either the Disneyland App and Genie or the Play Disney App. When web and App developers are building new systems they usually build them on the most up to date operating system. As the current system is Android 11, I would guess that the developers built Genie and the MDE App updates on Android 10 or higher. So therefore your only option is to get a phone with Android 11. |

You don't install Genie+. Instead it comes as part of the current version of MDE. Older versions of MDE won't have this feature. It sounds like you have an older version of MDE installed on your tablet.
As mentioned above, the latest version of MDE requires Android 8 and above. So Android 7 devices can't use the newest version of MDE which includes Genie, Genie+ ILLS, etc. You can use a web browser on the devices to access the web version of MDE but, as loldis says, I don't believe Genie/Genie+ is part of the web version. Not great news then. It looks like you may need some other device to access Genie/Genie+ if you are planning on using it.
