Alamo car hire issue - **UPDATE POST #11**

So after spending all of last night with my hubby trying to work out what on earth has gone on here - we've came to this conclusion...

So after every booking I was emailed a booking email with a reference number - after I fully went through SKIP THE COUNTER - I was then emailed ANOTHER email with a completely different reference number which in turn then ended up with the booking on the 1st reference number being cancelled - this has now happened 3 times - twice on my AMEX and once on my Barclaycard.

So in fact I had 6 bookings, 3 of which have been cancelled

The 3 bookings that remain are 2 on my AMEX - 1 is for £526 for the Int SUV for the 2 weeks and 3 drivers, 1 is for £530 for the exact same and 1 is on my Barclaycard for £426! RESULT - I was so frustrated when I booked with my Barclaycard that I didn't even notice that it was £100 cheaper - HAPPY ACCIDENT!

I am now going to cancel off the 2 x AMEX bookings and hold onto the BARCLAYCARD one - Just an FYI this one was booked at 10.34am - don't know why it's £100 cheaper as all the details are EXACTLY the same but for the stress of having 6 bookings i'm happily keeping it ;-)

Hope they sort out the issue when yo do skip the counter and add your credit card and instead of charging 1$ it chargers the full price that you have already paid and i only noticed when Nationwide authorisation popped up and showed i was about to authorise the full amount again so i obviously didn't proceed and will try skip the counter again in a few weeks to see if this issue has been fixed

We went in November as soon as borders opened. Booked with Andy and I managed to do skip the counter, although I think the bar code was the same on the online check in docs. No idea how I did it now but we went straight to the garage with no problem.

Just had this issue too. I didn't proceed as didn't want to pay the full amount again. Will just go to the counter instead.
