Beach in December?
I’m thinking of booking a night at one of the beaches around 18th December. Is it worth it or is it too cold?
Also I’m thinking Vero Beach/St Augustine or Clearwater-which would people suggest? What activities/must dos are available in December? Thanks in advance! |

We always go in December, travel to Clearwater every time with no issues. We generally check the weather ahead of time (day before really) to make sure its not a wasted trip, last tine t was glorious (2017).
Whilst there, we always eat at Crabbys (wonderful Seafood) and take a trip on Little Toot for some Dolphin spotting, which we always see. They also have an aquarium but we have never been, supposed to be great with 2 dolphins with prosthetic flukes and more). The sand is white and if you get there early enough, you will get some parking right near the beach. Highly recommend it |

We stay at Indian Shores (10 miles south of Clearwater) every Christmas; fingers crossed for this year too.
More is open during December as it is starting to move into peak season; you’ll see things in the area that are open that are closed in the low season (June-September). The sea on the Gulf Coast will be warmer than the Atlantic. December can be very variable. We’ve had 85 degrees with blazing sun; so hot you need to jump in the pool to cool down; high 60s-low 70s with cloud & windy; just a little too cool to sit by the pool, far too cold with the breeze to get in it; high 70s with blue skies & sunshine & just perfect; low-mid 50s with cold heavy rain & the heating on in the car. Weather forecasts are spot on 2 days before so keep an eye on that. Edited at 09:47 PM. |

We usually go for a month at a time in December and will always manage a couple of beach days, waterpark days etc in that time, just have to pick the days with the weather but have never failed.

We always have a week in December at Madeira Beach - occasionally it can be chillier in the evenings but we've always managed to get some sunbathing on the beach most days. Fingers crossed for this year.

We were on Miami South Beach in 1st January this year (before flying home late that night) - it was scorching - much hotter than when we left orlando earlier that day !
