People with a cats, cattery stays.

So we’ve got two cats, who by the time we go away will be 2 and 1+1/2. They are indoor cats and pampered to say the least! I’ve never been a mushy pet person but I’m so in love with them and the thought of leaving them to go on holiday is actually bothering me a lot! We’ve found a local cattery where they will have a large room together with a tv etc.

How do people find their cats when they return home? How long do they stay mad with you or has anyone had any problems?

Never had a problem, the cats have returned just the same as before they went.

Over the years we have stopped using catteries as one of our old cats got so scared she wouldn't even get in the box.
We now have a trusted sitter who visits twice a day to feed and fuss them (although ours do have a cat flap we lock them in at night).
We also leave a radio on a timer to give some background noise during the day.
They tend to be a bit offish with us when we return, but it only lasts a day or so (we got for 3-4 weeks too).

We were very lucky with our cats as an ex neighbour used to come and stay with them while we were away. She said she loved it as it was her holiday and she could visit her local friends.

We've always used our trusted Cattery and never had a problem. Naturally it is a bit upsetting the thought of it, but then at least they are safe and warm and being fed.

They've always come back the same as before, no problems at all.

I think our boy will be fine, maybe a bit cuddly but our girl is a bit of a diva lol

I have looked at this as I thought they maybe better at home but just worry about them getting out of the door as they come and go.

That’s what I’m thinking, the people are really nice and have been doing it a long time.

They've always come back the same as before, no problems at all.

Hopefully they won’t be too angry with us!

Thanks for everyone’s replies, think I’ve turned into a crazy cat lady lol

We have three that we put in our local cattery. One doesn't bat an eyelid to it. She comes home and is perfectly fine. The youngest one takes a couple of days to adjust to being home but is usually fine after that.
The third one is an absolute pain after a cattery visit. She becomes incredibly needy and will act out towards the other cats. She is generally quite a needy cat anyway but its so much worse after a cattery visit. She takes quite a while to settle back at home as well. We try to avoid putting her in the cattery if we can but it isn't always possible. I think it really just depends on the individual cat. ETA. We have used the same cattery for years and she is the only one of our cats who ever acts out after a visit.

Never sulked when he got back but the last time we took him, he hissed quite loudly at DH to show his displeasure at being there. He’s normally the most placid cat. Poor DH was as upset as the cat. We haven’t used one since.

I used a cattery once with my girl and she refused to eat properly or leave her carrier for a week. So now we have a cat sitter haha.

She is a bit of a baby though!
