Never mind, I just worked it out…don’t know how people are finding good prices anywhere. We are looking for the middle of April and it literally goes up by the hour. So stressful.

But you use this forum?
So you’ve started this thread based on 2 companies and ignored the multiple “deals” threads that get posted each week. I haven’t seen a single person post a deal on either of those places over the last 18 months. Could’ve missed it but that’s not where the deals have been. The deals have come up at: Andy at DFCH who gets mentioned multiple times a day. Ebookers/holiday autos/autoeurope (all when logged in) have had great deals Costco Virgin Atlantic travel plus I think I saw a thread this week of people finding deals through the Alamo Brits guide link. Point is there’s been loads of deals from everyone here. Just check your dates, if it’s a good price great. If not just wait until the next one. Edited at 08:21 PM. |

I check daily for car hire prices on BA and the prices are coming down but are still hugely inflated compared to pre covid, def shop around as there are deals that are gd value, Andy @ DFCH is also great to book thru and service and communication is excellent , and his prices are extremely competitive wouldn’t hesitate to book thru him

The main reason to book now is to secure a "decent" price. I've got a decent price through Andy, but at the same time haven't paid a penny, so if it drops between now and when I go then I'll have Andy reprice and make use of the lower pricing, but if it doesn't drop and goes up (which it has gone up since I initially booked) then I'm no worse off.
You are also comparing February which is a pretty quiet time and with omicron currently probably putting off some people travelling. Things will probably look very different in May, and you may well find that the price won't change between now and then. However as others have said, deals are to be had, £1600 is very expensive and you can get much better prices from Andy or elsewhere. (I have a 7 seater for 3 weeks in September for £850). |

We booked for the middle two weeks (15 nights) in April, which includes Easter weekend, for £442 from Andy, which given that it’s Avis, which is on airport, and that CDW etc included, we are really happy with. Literally anywhere else just giving crazy prices for those dates just now! I can’t believe we didn’t use Discount Florida before now! 🤦🏻

That’s a great price! Where is the pick up and did you book with Hertz direct or via Andy?

I can’t imagine anyone is booking at the sky high prices. Those of us who have booked managed to find a deal somewhere for a more “normal” price so it’s not us keeping prices up.

The cheapest deals i've found so far is with expedia.com.
Typical example, Jeep SUV for 9 nights works out around £422 towards the end of July with insurance. I recently booked my flights from them, was the cheapest I could find, 2 adults 2 children £2400 all in direct to Tampa with BA. I was getting crazy prices for over £3k for direct flights from LHR from the usual sites. Edited at 10:18 PM. |
