Mobile Luggage after landing at MCO

With Tui moving airports we need to have a rethink about who we now fly with

Can someone tell me the procedure re luggage from immigration to car rental at Orlando international

There is 3 of us but ds is in a wheelchair and we always have 4 bags, (medical stuff so can’t really take less) Sanford was fine as you could get trolleys and no second bag drop
Can you get a trolley before you get your luggage the first time at Orlando
We would never manage wheelchair plus luggage

Have a look at the International Arrivals Guide here.

Unfortunately I don't think that you can get trollies to take on the APM. There's the choice of a lift, escalator and staircase to get you from the baggage collection up to the APM which takes you to the main terminal. If you can't manage luggage and wheelchair you'll need to put your cases on to another carousel as soon as you leave the main baggage hall and it will be delivered across to the main terminal.

You can then go on the APM and head for the second carousel where I believe you can find trollies.

If you arrive direct from the UK you'll land at gates 70-99 on side B APM 4. Using the baggage transfer with VS your luggage will go over to side A level 1. I don't know where it goes with BA or Norwegian I'm afraid.

There are two rental car garages at MCO on sides A and B.

There are trollies in baggage claim which you can take as far as second bag drop. Second bag drop is hit or miss. We waited about 5 minutes for our bags this trip but have waited an hour before.

As mentioned you are able to get trollies to transfer your luggage from the carousel to the bag drop.

When in the main terminal you can get a trolley again but like you we have a wheelchair user so got one of the luggage porters to help us from the terminal to hire car, just tip them

Ali. Due to your circumstances you will have to use secondary bag drop. Trolley from Immigration/Luggage collection to the 2nd drop area. Only about 100ft

Then you all take the lift to the Monorail level and thought the terminal. Back down in a lift to collect the luggage which is brought all the way by conveyor belt.

Does the specialist car people you hire from have a specific area to hand the car over?

Sure he does as MCO is the airport they use 99% of the time, their depot is not far from the airport

I know people say best to take your luggage yourself to second drop because of the waiting for it if you don’t but reading above don’t think we have much choice

Never flew VA either so don’t know what to expect with them re special assistance and BA don’t go direct from Scotland
Also Don’t know what Orlando airport assistance is like either other than few negative threads over on the special needs

The system with a disabled person is very good.
Red cap will collect you from the plane, take you through immigration, collect the cases from the first bag collection, then take your cases to the second bag drop, then take you to the lift and onto the shuttle, then help collect cases at bag collection and wheel you to the car hire.

Thank you , keep reading it takes about an hour for your luggage if you do the second bag drop but seems no way round it
