Been a good few years since we went, but we stayed in the Concordia just off St Marks. Brilliant location and lovely hotel.

Yes the Carlton was definitely Venetian chintzy but we loved it! They also have a lovely rooftop restaurant and one of our party of 11 had a birthday so we ate there the night before our cruise and the service and food were great, it was very special.

The Ca Gottardi is the same, very Venetian in architecture and furnishings but we loved that. The service and attention to detail was excellent. Personally we prefer to choose hotels that are traditional than more modern generic hotels

Not looking good in Venice at the moment state of emergency declared. Hope it doesn’t cause too much damage to such a beautiful city.

We stayed at the Monaco , its not cheap though !
I prefer to stay in Venice but the cheaper option is to stay in Mestre and catch a bus in

We got a good deal in the BA sale booked to go again next year as lots of stuff we didn’t get time to do and we do love a bit of luxury 😊😊
